The owner of this Mira Mesa home had a solid, well-laid-out kitchen, but the golden oak cabinets were a holdover from a previous decade. After upgrading to beautiful new white quartz countertops, the dated cabinets stood out even more. A full and costly demolition was not an appealing option, so they turned to us for a smarter solution: cabinet refacing. Our team was tasked with completely transforming the kitchen’s aesthetic, bringing it into the modern era with new doors and a sophisticated, custom two-tone finish.

Features of the Refacing & Refinishing Project
Service: Full-service kitchen cabinet refacing, including the replacement of all doors and drawer fronts and the professional refinishing of all cabinet boxes in a two-tone color scheme.
The Transformation: All of the old, dated oak doors were replaced with new, custom-sized, clean-line Shaker-style doors.
Material & Finish: The new doors were crafted from solid Maple wood. A sophisticated two-tone palette was applied: a soft, elegant off-white painted finish for the upper cabinets, and a chic, modern medium-grey painted finish for the base cabinets. All existing cabinet boxes were meticulously refinished on-site to perfectly match.
Cohesive Design: The new two-tone style was selected to perfectly complement the home’s new white quartz countertops, a new white subway tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances.
Hardware: All old hardware was replaced with simple, modern dark knobs that provide a subtle, contemporary finishing touch.
Design Challenges & Solutions – A Flawless Two-Tone Refinish
Challenge: The main goal was to achieve a flawless, factory-quality two-tone finish that seamlessly blended the newly refinished cabinet boxes with the brand-new Shaker doors. The color transition between the upper and lower cabinets needed to be crisp, clean, and intentional to create a high-end, designer look. Solution: Our refacing and refinishing process is defined by meticulous preparation and a true painter’s craft. After removing the old doors, our team carefully prepped, primed, and professionally sprayed the cabinet frames on-site, applying the two distinct colors for the uppers and lowers. We then installed the new, custom-made Maple Shaker doors, which had been painted in our workshop for a perfect finish. The result is a stunning two-tone kitchen that looks completely custom-built from scratch.
