Design Challenges & Solutions – The Art of the Arch
Challenge: The main challenge was to introduce a distinct and classic architectural element—the arches—into a modern home in a way that felt both elegant and perfectly natural. Fabricating three perfectly identical, graceful arches and integrating the entire floor-to-ceiling unit seamlessly into the wall required a high level of precision woodworking, artistry, and finishing skill.
Solution: We utilized a combination of modern design software and traditional woodworking techniques to fabricate three perfect arches, ensuring the final design was both geometrically precise and visually graceful. By finishing the entire unit in a single, classic white, we allowed the beautiful architectural shape of the arches, rather than a bold color, to be the main design statement. The result is a sophisticated and wonderfully understated piece of custom millwork that adds immense character and a high-end, custom feel to the home’s study loft.
